Flushing Parks and Recreation is a nonprofit volunteer organization dedicated to the improvement of city parks as well as recreation services in our local community.

Flushing is home to several city parks. These parks provide one of the fundamental keys to Flushing and the surrounding area’s sense of community. Our parks provide locations for numerous community activities such as sports, concerts, festivals and other events that bring the community together and make Flushing home.

The River

Perhaps Flushing’s best asset, the Flint River provides scenic views, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, bird and wildlife watching. The river flows west, then north through Flushing. Since the late 1960’s, water quality has drastically improved. Today, the river hosts numerous species of fish and other wild animals. The clean water makes ideal locations for fishing including Riverview Park, River Road boat launch and Riverview Trail. A canoe or kayak trip can start or end from one of 2 river launch locations. River Road launch to Riverview Park is about a 45 minute trip. Riverview Park to Flushing Township Park is about 2 and a half hours. A trip down the river feels like you are up north. The beautiful scenery is scattered with an abundance of wildlife; you may even see one of several bald eagles that make the river their home.
